Description

The shape and look of each dog ornament is unique, as in real life. Part of the charm of these dogs is how they vary and have their own personalities. Tails might be up or down, fur tone and colour varies, but these dogs will resemble the ones in the photos. On some dogs there is a tiny motif on their 'Kerchief. Size is roughly (or should that be ruffly?) 4"

The dog ornament in the photo is the one you'll get!

How your dog was made

Your dog is glass! No paints or glazes make up the colour, and moulds weren't used for the shape - it's cut by hand. The coloured and patterned parts of the dogs are layers of crushed glass. The coloured glass "frit" is carefully applied to the clear glass - it's a bit like playing with sand!  It's a bit of a balancing act getting the bird on the kiln shelf.

The kiln firing takes at least 14-16 hours plus cooling time, and the kiln isn't opened until the glass has cooled.  After firing, hanging dogs have a small hole drilled in their head or neck using a diamond bit and a water bath. The dogs dangle from discrete clear thread. The maker initials each pup on their back.
